I just bought a 10X Belomo from Belarus on eBay for $39 plus $15 shipping so they are still available new shipped to the US.

16710 on a jubilee bracelet and tritium dial and hands, with serifed bezel insert. I don't value working lume on a GMT=Master II as much as I do on a dive watch or an Explorer II. The GMT-Master II is more a luxury watch than a tool watch. I would never get a tritium version of a tool watch. A tool watch needs to function in the situations it was designed for. On a GMT-Master II the patina is more important to me.

Polar is definitely better for modern Exp ii like 226570. However for 16570, I think black is a better looking piece!

Hi, I am traveling to Tokyo next week and I am thinking of taking two vintage watches that I have to sell there. One is a Seiko GS Hi-beat 6145-8000 in 18K yellow gold (prestine condition with original strap and buckle) and another is a Eska Chronograph with full calendar and Valjoux 72C (stainless steel average condition for its age - all original). The 16700 is thinner than the 16710 but the 16710 is still a pretty thin watch. I'm sensitive to watches being too thick and I owned a 16710 and thought of it as thin for its type.

Seawater is 3.5% salt by weight - it would have been nice to weigh your salt/water ratio to the same as seawater.

I’m a black dial 16570 lover. I prefer the contrast and the shine of that comes from those white good indices. Makes the watch far more versatile in terms of wearing on different occassions imo.

I like the ceramic GMTs… except for the polished center links (PCLs); too much bling. I have had this bracelet swap idea in mind for years. Good to know which bracelet reference would work for that. Swapping the bracelet is as far as I would go, but I don’t really think of that as “modding” since it’s so easy to do and undo.

I got the Belomo 10x and even that has quite a shallow depth of field and I had to learn how to use it by holding it close to the eye and moving the object close and moving it gently to pull focus. 10x is enough like you said for most case scenarios. I would recommend a small microscope for more details, no point buying 15x and 20x which will be so hard to focus.
